CAROLERS
Christmas in the Philippines
On christmas eve children would sing christmas songs to ask for gifts. The House of the Way started to listen christmas carols in December, 2006 at THOTW conference hall and gave the children cookies and pre-packed juice after the caroling, plus 1 peso each kid ($1=Php45). The kids who came did not expect to be in the conference hall and it took us three hours to listen to the same songs from different groups. It was noticed that some kids would save their cookies and juice and when asked why, they said they were saving the one cookie and one pre-packed juice to share with their siblings at home and some had to walk a long way for the small christmas gift. The kids were singing in tune or out of tune and it was still fun.

The next year, 2007 we had to give reservation numbers before Dec. 24th because the word spread that THOTW was givng gifts on christmas eve. One of our friends celebrated her special birthday with the kids instead of celebrating somewhere and shared her blessings with the kids. Some of the kids were turned away because the place could not accommodate everybody. Friends of THOTW shared stuffed toys, pens, chocolates, and money, when we ran out of pens and chocolates and stuffed toys, so all the kids who came would have something. While we share the blessings to the kids, we also share the reason for the season.

Our desire as a family is to hear when these kids grow up that it was at THOTW when they first heard about Jesus as the reason for the christmas season.
